Pachis Beach
(7 km far from Limenas): This is definitely one of the best organized sandy beaches in Thassos. Surrounded with a lot of pine trees, Pachis is great for natural shade.
Kastro
On one of the tops of mount Ypsarion, right in the heart of the island, lies the oldest settlement of the island. Its inhabitants were here protected from the pirates till most of them left the village to work to the mines and transferred their settlement at Limenaria. The village used to be a place where they spent their holidays.
Theologos
Theologos was the main village of the island till the past century, boasting great history as an ancient settlement and a necropolis was found here. Even nowadays the village if full with life though being a small mountainous village. the area is full with running waters so there is hope of nature being reborn!
Giola
Giola is a natural lagoon formed by the rocks that create a small basin where the sea water comes in. The white rocks resemble huge staircases as they are located in scale making them ideal for plunges for all! Accessing the spot is pretty difficult by normal vehicles, so be prepared to walk for a considerable distance within rocks.
Octopus with cabbages from the garden
A great variety of vegetables including cabbages are used to accompany the pre-boiled octopus. Onions, soft tomatoes, cabbages, various vegetables, parsley, spearmint, dill, olive oil and pepper grains are all sautéed together and at the end some juice from the already boiled octopus is added.
Shops & Galleries in Thassos
Scattered around Limenas and all the major resorts on the island you will find a great number of shops selling traditional products such as honey, olive oil, cheese, wine and sweets.
Tips
How to reach Thassos Island The best option is to fly to the Thessaloniki International Airport, where you either rent a car, taxi or take a bus ride to one of the two ferry ports to Thassos Island. You will need 2 hours drive to reach Kavala ferry port or 2,5 hours to reach Keramoti ferry port from Thessaloniki.
Transportation around the Thassos Island If you ask us, the best option to explore the Island is by a rented car – so if you’ll be landing at the Thessaloniki Island, make sure to rent it until you are back again. Having your own car is the easiest way to drive around Thassos Island. Another god option is renting a scooter.
